BEAMINSTER ST MARY WELL STREET ST 4701/4801 (EAST SIDE) 7/140 Nos 5 and 9 GV II
House and attached cottage. c. C17 and C20. Lias rubble walls. Slate roof with gable-end at right hand. Tile ridge. 3 brick stacks at left hand gable, right party wall, right hand gable. 2 storeys. c. 5 windows, 3-light wooden casements with glazing-bars. Wooden cills and lintels. Signs of blocked, wider stone mullion window. No 9 has C20 wooden casements. Front door at centre of no 5, C17, stone-moulded jambs with Tudor-arch head. Raised, returned label over. Door itself is wooden, plank with thin studded muntins, C20. Door to no 9: at left hand, wooden, C20 with one long glass panel. Source: R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p24 (16), for no 5.
