Detached house. Appears mainly C18, but may be of much earlier origin. The left section a later build - this once the Post Office. Plastered walls, thatched roof, plastered end stacks and one left of centre. L-shaped plan. Vertical pilasters on front. 2 storeys. 6-panel raised panel door under flat moulded hood on shaped brackets. Ground and first floors each have 2 tripartite sashes with glazing bars. In the left section, one sash with glazing bars on ground floor. Rear wing in matching construction. Internally, ground floor room at right end has C18 fireplace surround. In rear wing, some chamfered ceiling beams and lead-light windows, one with early glass. Several C18 panelled doors. Roof of main range appears of cruck construction. Possible signs of smoke-blackening. (RCHM Monument 16 Dorset Vol III)
