2 storeys house, probably C16. The frontage breaks forward here, and return wall, facing down Cheap Street, has gable and small bowed shop window. 1st floor oversails and has curved brace supports. At angle is original post, partly concealed by Georgian pilaster. On west side 1st floor has new pebble-dash finish and wood casements. Ground floor is plastered stone and has a Georgian paired sash and a later splayed shop window. The plaintile roof is new [1949] (this building suffered blast damage). An important building because of its ancient structure and group value.
Nos 1 to 15 (odd) form a group with the George Hotel in Higher Cheap Street.
