Description
BROAD STREET 1. 1357 (South West Side) No 4 (formerly listed as shop occupied by S Tidswell adjoining No 5 on East). No 5.

Late C16 to C17, new shambles instituted in 1598. Timber framed structure with plastered exterior. Slate roof. East and North fronts of 3-storeys. East end (No 4) has paired sash on 2nd floor, single sash to either side on 1st floor, early C20 shop front on ground floor. North front of No 4 has a sash window on 2nd floor and a small plate glass shop window on ground floor. North front of No 5 has 2 small shop windows on ground floor, left hand one with glazing bars; glazed door. A splayed bay window on 1st and 2nd floors; sash windows. South side of 2 storeys and 2-storeys and attic. No 5 has from left to right hand, a 2-light casement with small panes above and below, a shop window with leaded panes to right hand; moulded doorway with angle roundels. To right hand again, 1 box dormer. Small single-light casement on 1st floor; on ground floor, half-glazed door with hood. Exposed ceiling beams.
Bell Cliff Retaining Wall and Railings and Nos 4 to 10 (consec) & 10A Broad Street form a group.
