9/201 Dole's Ash Farmhouse including 2 pairs of gate piers to south-west

Farmhouse, possibly C17 in origin largely rebuilt early C19. Lower storey of north-west front in banded flint and rubble. Upper storeys in banded flint and brick. South-west front rendered and colourwashed. Gable-ended slate roofs with end brick stacks. Parapet with plat-band. South-west front, 2 storeys, 3 window range. Sashes with glazing bars. C20 porch with C20 part-glazed door. C20 porch with C20 part-glazed door. To the right is an attached single-storey range in brick (English bond). The north-west facade is of 3-storeys. Ground floor left has a C17 4-light hollow chamfered, stone mullioned window with leaded lights. Internally there are a number of C17 and C18 features, probably reset. Early C17 overmantle with grotesque, caryatid pilasters flanking 2 main panels bearing coats of arms. Moulded borders, frieze and cornice with carved enrichment. Reset C17 and C18 panelling. Early C18 stairs with moulded handrails and turned, carved balusters. 2 pairs of monolithic, stone, rusticated gate piers to the south-West. RCHM, Dorset, vol III, p 218, no 16.
