GV II
Detached cottage, formerly for the priest. C16, extended to west in C17. West wall of the addition was repaired and refenestrated early C19. The whole is now derelict. Flint rubble walls, with some brick dressings. Roofless. East wall has a boldly projecting chimney breast, south side of which is splayed above first floor level and carried on a stone corbel. To the north, the chimney breast incorporates a stone vice which has, in the east side, a small loop consisting of a chamfered vertical slit with a circular widening at the centre; it overlooks the former south doorway of the chapel. Other windows and doorways in east part were altered and rebuilt in brick, early C19. Brick doorway on north side has reset timber surround, c C16, with chamfered triangular head and jambs. C17 western part of south wall contains 3-light stone mullioned windows. Scratch dial near the south west corner. West wall was repaired early C19; two first floor windows with 4-centred brick heads and jambs. In the gable are two reset C15 or early C16 fragments; part of a 4-centred stone window head with trefoil headed lights and a small stone panel with paired ogee-headed openings. Inside, the ground floor room of the east part of the cottage had, until recently, an original open timber ceiling divided into 6 panels by deeply cambered intersecting beams and plates. To the east is an open fireplace with a deep cambered and chamfered bressummer and chamfered stone jambs with run-out stops. (RCHM Dorset III, p76 (2))
