Description

THORNFORD ST 61 SW - 9/136 Lake House (formerly listed as Lake Farmhouse) 11.7.51 - II Large farmhouse. Dated 1853. Dressed stone walls and Ham stone ashlar dressings. String over the ground floor windows. Slate roofs with stone gable-copings and moulded kneelers. Stone stacks on ridges, and on the 2 north gables. Buttressed stack embrasure on the north wall. Two parallel ranges, overlapping, with porch in the north-east angle. Two storeys and attics. Irregular fenestration. Mullion-and-transom windows to ground floor of 2 and 4 lights with cast-iron casements with ornamental leadwork. Porch entrance to north-east has moulded stone jambs and depressed- arch head, in a square frame. Spandrels have carved fleur-de-lis of Digby. ED with coronet over front doorway. Plank door with strap-hinges. Upstairs windows are 2- and 3-light stone mullions to same design. South side has a single-storey scullery with slate roof and stone gable-coping.
