Manor House. Mid C17. Dressed stone walls. Slate roof with stone gable-copings. Brick stacks at left hand gable, left of centre, right hand gable. 2 storeys, with attics. 6 windows, ground floor has 4-light stone mullion windows grouped in two's, with central transoms. Continuous label over all the ground floor windows, first floor has 3-light stone mullions with central transoms. No labels. Mainly fixed glass lights, a few C20 metal casements. Front door, right of centre with a square chamfered head and jambs. Raised label over the doorway. Door with 4 glass-lights, c.C19, Rear, with an original continuous outshut of service-rooms, punctuated by a gabled stair-well at centre. Plan: 3-unit house, with a transverse narrow hall. 3 large fireplaces, present stone fireplace in parlour; with moulded jambs, and a Tudor-arch in a square head, Cl7. Upstairs: remains of some early C17 panelling. Parlour downstairs has a compartmented ceiling of plaster, with vine-scroll ornament, c.C18. Source: R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p 179(2).
