SOUTH PERROTT SOUTH PERROTT VILLAGE ST 4706 2/256 The Old Rectory and attached front garden walls, gate-piers and datestone GV II
Former Rectory, now private-house. Early C19, with later Victorian additions on the west. South elevation: stone walls, stuccoed. Slate roof, parallel ridges, and with stone gable-copings. Early C20 brick stacks. Iron guttering to front of house with 12 ornamental iron brackets. 2 storeys and attics. 3 windows, sashes with glazing-bars, flush wooden frames and cills. Former front door, at centre, wood with 2 flush panels, and 9 glass lights over. Verandah with 8 iron supports, with cross-saltires and circles. Pentice glass roof. Rear service-wing and former apple-store, mid C19. 2 storeys and attics. East elevation has ground floor sash with 2-light casements over. Stone arch voussoirs. Mid C19 additions on west, comprise a dining room (penticed) and porch. Attached front-garden wall along road, c70 yards long. Stone plinth and brick walls above in Flemish bond. Early C19. Reset datestone from former house in return wall: badge and initials TH 1684, set in column framing with round-arch over. Rosettes each side. Square stone gate-piers at west end of wall, with shallow pyramidal capstones. Source: RCHM Dorset I, p177(4).
