Description

CASTLETON ST 61 NW SHAFTESBURY ROAD (A30) 5/25 Barn 20 metres west 11.7.51 of Blackmarsh Farmhouse GV II Attached Barn, at right angles to farmbuildings. Dated 1818. Rubble-stone walls. Clay-tile roofs with gable-ends. Two large square porches project (full height) on east side, both gabled and with weatherboarding in the gables. Through-passage at right hand end to outer yard. Stable-door with fixed windows either side. Stable-door in between the porches. The main porches have 2-leaf metal doors. Attached at south end of barn, stable with half-hipped clay-tile roof and rubble-stone walls. Stable-door, with loft-door over. Interior of barn: roof-construction of 9 bays, C19. Collars, king-posts, strutted, long bracing members from wall-plate to base of king-post. Two sets of through-purlins. Base of king-post area, the members are bolted together, not jointed, (cf.
