Description

SY 49 NW MARSHWOOD 6/34 Dunster Farmhouse, (formerly listed as Little Dunster Farm) 4.12.51 II Farmhouse. C16 and later. Cob walls, rendered. Thatch roof, hipped at both ends. Two renewed brick stacks, one at centre, one at apex of left hip. 1 1/2 storeys. Four windows: 'Yorkshire' sliding sashes with glazing-bars, mainly of 2 lights, one with 3 lights. North wall with big curve on it, cob. Former stable at right hand, under same roof, but with structural wall between it and the house. Left hand end wall, of brick, C18 originally in Flemish bond. Right hand end wall of coursed stone rubble. Front door plank, right of centre on south wall of house. Interior: deep-chamfered ceiling and wall- beams of narrow section, c. early C18. Former ? stable with mid-chamfered beams with filleted, tongued stops, C17. Roof, of jointed cruck construction with slip-tenons, C16. Three sets of crucks visible. Source: R.C.H.M.
