SY 7282 OSMINGTON CHURCH LANE (west side) 13/27 Remains of Manor House 26.1.56 GV II
Remains of manor house. C17. Dressed stone walls with ashlar quoins at east end. Coursed and random rubblestone walls at west end. Walls stand to 4.5 metres at east end and one metre at west end. Original south (entrance) wall of manor, limited return walls. No roofs. The south front has one window of 3 lights and one blocked window with a label. Remains of window cills over doorway. Doorways have ovolo moulded or hollow chamfered jambs; two, one reset in a garden wall have four centred heads. On plan the house comprised three rooms and a through passage. A change in floor levels suggests that the east part may be a reconstruction, R.C.H.M. Dorset II, p. 180 (4)).
